DIY Photo cards

step by step tutorial

Happy Tuesday everyone! Today I want to show you something really pretty. Some time ago I came up with a simple idea to make photo cards. I love photography so having a personalized card with a photo, taken by us sounds great, right? But for some reason I never made them before. Last week, when I was preparing little surprise packs to send to my lovely friends, who participated in the giveaway it suddenly hit me - this is the perfect occasion to make them! I chose some beautiful photos from the girls' blogs, adjusted the size and light a little bit, printed, glued, added a bit of love and voilà! I think they turned out beautiful! With the Spring, Easter pictures on the cover they are also perfect for the upcoming holiday, don't you think?

To make photo cards you will need:
1. Card stock or any other thick paper
2. Printed Photos
3. Double sided tape
4. Masking tapes

fun and easy diy project

How I made them:
First I placed a double sided sticky tape at the back of the photos, I removed the protective paper from the tape and attached the photos to the cards. Then I decorated the edges using masking tapes. That's it!

The beautiful pictures on the cards belong to:

Picture of the egg by Aga / W cieniu starej jabloni
Picture of the flower pot by Ania / Anicja's White Space
Picture of the yellow flowers by Ayda / Cafe no hut
The fourth card for Joanna / Kawałki Mikroauki is not in the pictures because I made it a bit later but it's also very beautiful! :)

Have you ever made a photo card? What do you think about this idea? Would you like to receive one?

Inspiring garden office

garden office

Hello and happy new week my dear friends! Hope you had a great weekend. Today I came across this inspiring garden office and as soon as I saw it I knew I had to share it with you! Beautifully styled by one of my favorite Dutch freelance stylists Kim Timmerman, caught my attention due to the airy atmosphere and beautiful details. I really admire work of Kim, her great concept ideas and light, delicate taste. I could easily imagine myself making some pretty floral arrangement in this place (or at least trying!) Anyway, I don't have a garden but I want that garden office!

Trend shake: 5 Ways to Use Indigo in your Home

5 ways to use indigo in your home 2014

Happy Friday everyone! Do you remember when at the beginning of the year I shared with you first Trend shake post, which was focused on different shades of blue that will be trending in 2014? Well, back then when I was writing about indigo color, I didn't expect it to be such a big hit! Do you also see it everywhere these days?

Blue is the color of peace and tranquility which is why it's so widely used in interior design as it calms mind and helps with relaxation. The very saturated and deep version of blue is mainly associated with handcrafted fabrics, Navy, Oriental and Mediterranean places. Whether on walls, furnitures, fabrics or ceramics it definitely is a statement color thanks to it's rich hue.
I've done some research on some interesting ways to apply it, and made a list of my favorite examples. Let's see!

1. Indigo ombre walls - Ombre which is a French name for gradation, isn't showing any signs of slowing down when it comes to interior trends. Flowing from dark deep blue into lighter hues, eventually transforming into white, can give you a beautiful feature wall in your home. It doesn't have to be vertical, it can also move horizontally depending on what result you want to achieve.

2. Indigo and white pottery - whether it's popular Dutch Delftware or other tin-glazed pottery,  they are back! So very popular folk ceramics associated mainly with countrysides are more stylish than ever right now. They can be used to dress up your table, or decorate your wall, in both cases the floral or patriotic pattern will definitely add character to your decor.

3. Indigo watercolor tiles - created by Deborah Osburn from Clé, whose recent obsession with Delft and Ombre objects led to making this beautiful watercolor handmade collection. Each tile is placed in the pool of dye and left to absorb the color in it's own way, each time resulting in different smudges. Aren't they spectacular?

4. Indigo dyed fabrics - the most popular use of indigo dye is for yarn wool which is used to produce jeans however there is plenty of other interesting ways and techniques to color fabrics and use them at home. One of them is called Shibori dying which is dying fabrics with a pattern by binding, stitching, folding, twisting or compressing leaving certain areas undyed. If you want to learn more, my favorite trend observer - Gudy from Eclectic trends posted a great article about it including Shibori tutorial. Once dyed, the fabrics can be used as tablecloths, cushion covers, blinds or blankets.

5. Natural Indigo dyes - They seem to be back in rug production. One of the most ancient dyes which is extracted from the vegetable plant - Indigofera tinctoria is appreciated again. Today most dye are synthetic but this natural indigo dye is still available and believed to be much better quality. Why? Because they produce wonderfully saturated colors, soft and harmonized that you can't obtain using artificial dyes (keep in mind that the cost is about 30% more!)

Hope you enjoyed this blue moment! I showed you five of my favorite ways to invite indigo color to your home. I love all these examples but I think my favorite would the watercolor tiles. They are absolutely gorgeous! What do you think of these five ways? Do you have a personal favorite?

My pencil cup

Present time

Hello friends :) How are you? Are you also crazy busy recently? I'm doing million things at the same time and you know what? It makes me happy! Because it seems like I'm finally getting close to do what I really, really want in my life. I'm not saying it will happen immediately, not that it will be easy. But the truth is, even little success requires hard work, time and effort, right? I hope once the ball starts rolling, things will begin to happen. I can't share the details with you yet, because I'm this weird superstitious-type and don't want to jinx it, but if everything goes well you will be the first ones to know! Promise! Oh and I also want to share with you my favorite, awesome 'desk organizer'. I fact it's a cup, so I might as well drink coffee out of it but for now I prefer it looking pretty on my desk :) What do you think?
